To begin with, I would like to come back to childhood and describe our first attitudes towards lying.
When our parents brought us up, they tought us not to lie, because for them it is negative. For us it is also negative, because our parents are ''always right.'' Nevertheless, there are some children, who lie all the time they want, because they are afraid of their parents. The question is: Is it worth lying?
During our teenage years we often use ''white lies'' to avoid hurting someone's feelings. We also start lying to our parents, because this time we are the ones, who are right.
As adults we know there are situations, where it is neccessary to lie, but also there are situations, when it is unacceptable to lie. Husband often lie to his wife, when he has a mistress, simply because he doesn't want to loose both of them. The second question is: Is it worth telling white lies?
It is often said that everyone of us lies. Do we really have to lie? Well, the answer is uncertain. In some cases it is much easier to avoid the truth. For example: some of us are ashamed by their opinions.
In conclusion, I have to admit that lying (in some cases) is much better that knowing the truth, which can deeply hurt us. I think we have to be honest to each other, but on the other hand I accept small lies. Being economical with the truth is not always worth it.
